Missing lynx

I really wanted to explore the use of colour as a source of misdirection in an image, deliberately using the camouflage of the Lynx to make the Robin the attention grabber in this painting.

I have yet to see a wild Mountain Lion. My wife has - only a short distance from our home - and I still haven't forgiven her for seeing it without me! They have shown up on the trail camera in my back yard and I often encounter sign of them while out exploring our area. This painting seeks to capture that illusive nature and my yearning for even the most fleeting glimpse.

This was a picture I was unsure whether to paint. With my usual focus being the eyes of my subjects I was uncertain whether an image with no eyes at all would engage in the same way. At the end of the day it turns out big, pointy teeth will get your attention every time!
