Whether it is celebrating a current family member or memorialising a dear departed friend, I consider every portrait I do an honour and a privelidge. Read on or contact me to find out more...
Commissioning a portrait couldn't be easier. Just let me know what you are looking for and I will be happy to help every step of the way. Generally I start with your favourite photographs of the subject, or if you are local I can organise a free photo shoot to ensure I'm working from the best reference possible.
I am always amazed at just how much portrait paintings can connect with and move the people I paint them for. Whilst I cannot know your pet, I certainly understand the love and bond between you and them and always aim to provide as much care and attention in producing their portrait as you might yourself. Painting portraits (or any commission piece) is a very particular challenge for an artist. Ordinarily we paint something that we (hopefully) like, and trust that somewhere down the line it will connect with someone else who likes it too. With a commission, the situation is different, it is a painting for a specific audience and it is essential that they are happy with the final result.
Commissioning a painting is a 'leap of faith', trusting that an artist will capture what you want on board or canvas forever. Because of this I do not charge deposit fees for commissions - if you do not like the result, you pay nothing and I simply keep the painting. I am happy to report that to date I have never had to keep a commissioned piece.
Of course to make doubly sure you are happy with the results, quality control is always overseen by my studio manager Charlie (opposite).
