While visiting Oman I was given an opportunity to get very 'up close and personal' with camels. Close enough, in fact, for them to check me over by feeling along my arm with their incredibly dextrous lips. It is a peculiarly pleasant if slightly ticklish sensation! 

In Oman they hold beauty pageants for camels. I now completely understand why!

Striped Hyena are very striking animals. They lack the 'brutish' look of their spotted relatives. This painting is part of a series of subjects inspired by my visit to Oman.
